The child budget (kindgebonden budget) is a government contribution for parents with children under 18. The amount depends on income, number of children and family situation.

What is the child budget?

The child budget is a government contribution for parents with children under 18, based on income and number of children. It is often calculated automatically if you receive child benefit. Single parents receive an additional supplement.

Who is eligible?

  • Parents with children under 18
  • You receive child benefit from SVB
  • Dutch nationality or valid residence permit
  • Single parents: income up to ca. €29,736 for max amount
  • Couples: joint income up to ca. €39,141 for max amount

Conditions 2026

  • You receive child benefit
  • Assets max €146,011 (single) or €184,633 (with partner)
  • Child under 18
  • Single parents receive extra supplement
  • Amount decreases as income rises

How much child budget?

  • Depends on number and age of children
  • Children 12-17: higher amount
  • Single parents: extra supplement
  • Higher income = lower amount
